All change at Chester Railway Station | |
A one-way traffic system will be in place for approximately three months, as work continues on the £1.3 million highway scheme which is being managed by Cheshire County Council, who have said the following: "Traffic making its way to the Railway Station will be diverted down City Road and will leave via Brook Street and Hoole Road. A signed diversion route will be in place. We apologise for the disruption - however the one-way system is being introduced as a matter of safety for drivers and also for those working on site." Work will continue with local road closures on Saturday nights August 4th, 11th and 18th to complete a mini roundabout and surfacing at the top of Brook Street and Station Road. The project is part of a £10 million plan to revamp the station and its forecourt undertaken by the Chester Rail Gateway Partnership and is part of the Chester Renaissance initiative. The Chester Gateway Partnership includes Arriva Trains Wales, Cheshire County Council, Chester City Council, Merseyrail, Merseytravel , Network Rail, Northern Rail, North West Development Agency, Railway Heritage Trust, Virgin Trains and Visit Chester and Cheshire.
