Funding for new CCTV camera agreed for Green Lane

Janet Black - City Councillor for CollegeWe are delighted to tell you that we have raised the full £36,000 needed for the CCTV camera to be installed on the bend in Garden Lane.

Councillor Sandra Rudd said: "It's been a long, hard slog; the City Area Committee gave us over half the total from their last two annual budgets, local residents dipped in their own pockets and raised £360, many thousands of pounds were given by the Community Safety Partnership and, the final icing on the cake, was the news last week that the University of Chester had given a sizeable donation to make the camera a reality."

The next step will be to book a slot with Cheshire County Council for the underground cabling to be installed and the camera should be in operation in early 2008.

Councillor Janet Black said: "I am delighted that, at last we have obtained the funding and we are very grateful to everyone who helped raise the money. We now need to get the work done very quickly so that residents of Garden Lane can be free of the frequent vandalism that occurs."
